Proven Success Tips for Creating Effective Squeeze Pages

5th Jun 2011 byLee Gilbert 0

For anyone new to the term, they wonder what on earth "squeeze pages" are. In the internet marketing world, the term is used quite often. Many people who use the internet have been on squeeze pages before and just didn't know that is what they were.

A squeeze page is intended to do just what the name implies. The purpose is to "squeeze" information out of the visitor. A well designed squeeze page should have a high success rate of encouraging visitors to subscribe to a site owner's mailing list. So in essence, the intent is to squeeze visitors in order to get their email address.

Give Something to Get Something

This is a sales strategy that has been around for quite some time. Similar to giving away a free trial of a product to encourage a purchase, giving something of value in exchange for a visitor's email address seems like a win-win for both parties.

What is given away does not have to be expensive. It can be a free publication such as an eBook or a coupon to use for a discount on a future purchase. Research has proven that the conversion rate of visitors to subscribers is higher when they are offered an incentive for parting with their email address.

Linking Strategy for Squeeze Pages

The idea is to draw in the visitors and keep them focused on one thing, and that is opting in to your email list. If the squeeze page is busy with other choices and options for the reader to do things, it will draw their attention away from what you want them to do, which is subscribe to your list.

Once you have the subscribers on your list, you can then use the emails you send to direct them to other internet and/or website locations to perform other actions. On the squeeze page, though, it is essential to avoid links that give the visitor an easy out to leave the site without subscribing. It's similar to the concept of putting blinders on horses to keep their attention straight ahead.

Don't Overdo It

Squeeze pages are not supposed to be sales pages. They should contain sufficient information to captivate the reader and make them want to subscribe to your list. The page should clearly indicate to the visitor the benefits they will receive for joining your list. The sales end of it will come later.

Build a Complete Package

One essential element of the overall intent is to market to the subscribers on a regular basis. If you have a squeeze page setup but no messages in your auto responder, you're missing out on the whole exercise.

You need to have an auto responder set up with multiple emails that will stream into the subscriber's mailbox over a period of time. These should be strategically written and contain calls to action from time to time to prompt the recipient to do something that will hopefully lead to a sale.

A Quick Note about Auto Responders on Squeeze Pages

A good auto responder should give the subscriber the option to both opt in and opt out of the list. This reflects the business as being trustworthy and willing to email market in a professional manner. Businesses that operate in this fashion will benefit by having more of their emails opened, and most important, actually having them read.
